Calendar sync is designed to be flexible. If you edit a reminder's title or due date, you decide whether the calendar entry updates too. Prefer to keep your calendar exactly as-is after the initial sync? Turn off the overwrite option. Want every edit reflected immediately? Leave it on. The choice is yours.
